- Inspect and clean your crawl space: take the time to inspect your crawl space for leaks standing water or signs of pests consider adding a vapor barrier if one isn't already in place to help control moisture levels during the wet season.
- Winterized outdoor faucets and sprinkler systems: before the first freeze, drain and shut off your outdoor faucets to avoid burst pipes. If you have an irrigation system, it's a good idea to winterize it by draining water from the lines.
- Protect plants and shrubs from frost: cover sensitive plants with frost clothes or burlap to shield them from freezing temperatures. Mulching around the base of plants can also help insulate the roots and retain moisture during the colder months
